Around Trouble

Trouble abounds

TRUTH

But if from there you seek the Lord your God, you will find him if you seek him with all your heart and with all your soul.

Deuteronomy‬ ‭4‬:‭29‬

REFLECTION

Finding God isn’t always the same as freedom from troubles.

More often it can be simply finding the courage to walk through those troubles rather than around them.

Let me tell you what, I hate walking through crap. Or rather, I hate the anticipation of it. Actually, trudging through difficulty and then emerging on the other side is pretty encouraging for me and others.

But it’s that phase of a problem just after it starts brewing when I begin deciding how long I’ll put off stepping in to the solution that eats my lunch.

God doesn’t seem to be phased by these things, though. He expects us to falter and to be discouraged and to become enthralled with our little doubts and fears.

He knows we are typically one thought away from being paralyzed by something.

So, we are encouraged to look for Him in all things, but especially when it comes to the murky choices and situations that a full life will necessarily throw our way.

Sometimes a simple thought toward Him and a prayer for strength is all we need.

Sometimes it’ll take dwelling in scripture for days at a time in unrest.

Sometimes a season will come and go without resolving whatever is eating our lunch.

Sometimes we are unwilling. Sometimes we just need to wait.

But in all things, we can direct our thinking, our hearts, our souls toward Him. We need to think His thoughts and not our own.

It’s incredibly important to take action and get busy living, but sometimes He holds us in uncomfortable situations to make sure we walk away with our eyes wide open.

God, help me think your thoughts.
