Fire the Mind

Find the path

TRUTH

For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.

Matthew‬ ‭6‬:‭14‬-‭15

REFLECTION

It’s a bit disarming to see what God chose to highlight after giving us the Lord’s Prayer.

That whole bit about forgiving others as they sin against us is a pretty big deal apparently.

It sounds like our forgiveness is contingent on whether or not we forgive others.

When’s the last time you held a grudge?

I am an expert at spinning these up over the smallest things. They don’t typically start as much more than a small judgement against someone’s character or actions.

But if I’m not careful, that’s exactly the foothold that resentment can use to get in and hollow out my mind.

It’s the easiest thing in the world to be lazy with my thoughts and allow judgements to dictate my feelings toward others.

I’ve got to guard against this—I’ve got to pray against this.

God gives us the mandate in his word. And he gives us the power in his Spirit.

Will I work toward His good, or will I succumb to my petty wanderings?

God, free me from my resentments.
