Good Wanderings
to wonder at

TRUTH
Because you are my help, I sing in the shadow of your wings. I cling to you; your right hand upholds me.
Psalms 63:7-8
REFLECTION
It’s not that we don’t know how to let go, it’s that we are constantly letting go of the wrong things.
I desperately want fulfillment and satisfaction and a daily dose of happiness. But I also relinquish my hold on my lifeline almost daily.
I will draw near to God with slow, doubtful, deliberate steps. And then, I’ll withdraw at the first sign of distraction or skepticism.
Perseverance, this beautiful attribute that I long for usually, becomes a fleeting thought as my mind turns back to myself.
Instead of wondering at the majesty of this relationship I’m able to pursue, I’m wandering toward the more permissible selfish vices that don’t require full-fledged addiction to get strung out on.
Thank God for the morning.
Thank God for the daily reset.
Thank God for the opportunity each day to return to Him.
I’m so much better off in his shadow.
The worries that chase me inward don’t have to dictate my every movement.
Instead, I can bring them into the light and turn them over. I can seek help.
It doesn’t mean I’ll always get the answers I want when I want them, but it’ll keep me moving forward toward Him.
God, give me peace in this place.
