Flit and Spark

Carnal Spirit

For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit.

Romans‬ ‭8‬:‭5

Today’s Reflection

Drifting is the normal becoming of man set loose.

Rage against the better things. Howl in the midst of holiness.

The great desire turned inward rots the very lifeblood it is meant to fertilize. It quells the fire that is meant to burn, and kindles the incessant heartburn of longing.

The flesh wants what the spirit knows. Strength drawn from centennial branches and the long departed.

We cannot seem to muster the energy to relinquish the idea of experiencing the first again.

And again we become driftwood.

We become dust blown through the ephemeral sheen of our life’s plodding.

Muzzle loaded with one more.

Arrest this moment.

Yes, you are called to more than this feeble meandering.

Touchpoint.

God, cut my eyes that I may see.
