TRUTH

But whoever does what is true comes to the light, so that it may be clearly seen that his works have been carried out in God.

John‬ ‭3‬:‭21

REFLECTION

Knowing is not enough. It may not be half enough. But it is necessary.

And the thing is, we mostly know the right way. We mostly known at least when we are headed in the wrong way.

Inherent is our conscience and this is inborn, not of us but there anyway. God-conscienceless; societal-sensitivity; emotional-intelligence.

Sure, we’ve got a lot of labels, but mainly the fact is we have an idea of right and wrong. Light and dark.

And despite the numbing of even this very source of truth in modern society, when we look practically at the life we live, we know there are good choices and bad ones. There is regret and joy.

There is right and wrong.

Addiction slides into the precipice at some point. It doesn’t always start that way though. And that’s what makes it such a cunning enemy once we’re afflicted.

It is freeing to know that I’ve crossed the line, though. There are many arguments to be had about whether someone may drink successfully again.

It’s a moot point for me. It’s not worth the risk. Nothing to gain; much to lose. And at this point my eyes are open wide enough to know that I am only a small part of my own story and life.

What I do echoes in the many lives around me.

God, I want to be in the light as you are in the light.
