This Paralyzing Life

is Wonderful

For nothing will be impossible with God

Luke 1:37

Looking ahead is a dangerous occupation. I’m just not any good at doing it well.

Inevitably, my emotions high jack my reason and I drift into fantasy. Or, my reason derails my hope and I drift into morbid reflection.

There is a balancing act made possible by faith in something outside of myself—outside the meager influence that I have over the world around me. As I become willing to accept the darkness ahead as opportunity rather than despair, I can step into it with His light.

And we don’t live in complete blindness either. Yes, it becomes necessary to step forward in faith through the course of living. But as we properly develop the habit of looking back, we take note of the twists and turns we’ve walked through.

We can see how He brought us through difficulty after painful difficulty to get us here.

And here is all we have. Here is now. Now is the moment to choose to do or to ignore the next right thing in front of us.

God, thank you for the paralyzing life that I no longer have to traverse alone.
