Today’s Reflection

It’s a quick trip onto the internet before the carelessness of what is acceptable becomes apparent.

There’s no filter. There’s no standard. Vitality comes from any category with the ability to entertain, educate or both.

There are no external consequences.

I don’t know if this is good or bad. There’s a lot of good in the world, and a lot of bad too. Always has been.

But it does feel as though the modern, online world has established a free-for-all mentality that can sap some of the awe out of life.

Hear me out. I’m practically living on the computer many of my days too. I’m a proponent for them.

But I also need to take steps back and look up at the sky. Literally. The world should fill me with wonder. This extends from the natural world into this crazy, interconnected world we’ve crafted as humans too. I’m in awe of it all.

I lose my way when I stay more impressed with what we’ve made and what I’m able to do than with the hugeness of the earth and the universe.

I’m less than a speck in the vastness. An important one, mind you, but such an infinitesimally tiny thing.

Zooming out is a lifeline. Zooming out reorients myself with God. It reminds me of how big he is. It helps me reframe my days around Him.

I want to have a truthful frame of reference for how I approach each day. I want to be able to walk into my days with confidence and purpose.

Meditating on His will and literally keeping myself right sized in my own mind are helpful steps toward this end.

God, I’m amazed by your universe, thank you for it.

P.S. I'm turning these reflections into an actual book.
